Three Days of Free Shakespeare! - Astoria, Manhattan, The Bronx

Tonight, 6pm in Astoria Park - Julius Caesar

Saturday 6pm, Central Park at Cherry Hill:  Two Gentlemen of Verona

Sunday at Pelham Bay Park's South Meadow Picnic Area: Two Gentlemen of Verona at 4pm, Julius Caesar at 6pm

Julius Caesar features James Ware as an African-American Caesar, with a diverse cast of 7 women and 7 men playing the rest of the roles, including the fighter roles. Director Robert Dyckman says, “You'll witness firsthand the intrigue as Brutus and his conspirators plot against a tyrannical dictator who threatens to rob them of their freedom, and the consequences of their actions and fatal flaws as they struggle to save the Roman Republic - complete with an exciting and epic battle fought with swords, shields and spears!”

The summer’s comedy, Two Gentlemen of Verona, continues in CFTC’s usual direction of contemporary concepts, tackling the era of Reagonomics and shoulder pads in a 75-minute version of the Bard’s less-oft performed play.

Two Gentlemen of Verona performs: Central Park/Cherry Hill (9/3 6pm); Pelham Bay Park (9/4 4pm).

Julius Caesar performs: Astoria Park (9/2, 6pm); Pelham Bay Park (9/4 6pm); Waterside Plaza/Manhattan (9/10 4pm).
